FAQ

Answers to your most frequently asked questions.

‘Limited Edition’ means that there will only ever be a set number of prints produced. My acrylic and metal prints are limited to an edition of 40 in total, which means that my clients can order artwork in the print material and size combination of their choice, but once 40 pieces have been produced, no other acrylic or metal artwork of this photograph will ever be made, increasing their rarity and value.

‘Open Edition’ means that there can be an unlimited number of prints produced. My 8×10 and 11×14 fine art paper prints are available in an open edition, which means that any number of prints can be produced over time.

Yes. Each of my Limited Edition pieces features a signature and edition number digitally embedded in the face of the artwork. For example, a print with the number 32/40 means that there will only ever be 40 acrylic or metal prints created in total and that you have the 32nd one.

Yes. I provide a signed Certificate of Authenticity with an embossed seal and serial number, which is shipped separately from the print itself. A tamper-resistant holographic label with an identical serial number is then applied to the reverse side of your Limited Edition Acrylic or Limited Edition Metal artwork.

The ideal size for your space depends on the orientation of your wall, the size of your room, and the furniture within it. For a visually appealing focal point, your artwork should be about ⅔ to ¾ of the size of your wall depending on ceiling height. Of course, if you are looking to hang your art over a couch or fireplace, this will affect the size of your artwork. In general, your piece should be about ¾ of the width of your furniture and hung with about 6 to 8 inches of space between them. If you would like to discuss the optimal size for your space, contact me and I would be happy to help.
Absolutely. If you love an in-stock photo and you are interested in having it printed in a custom size, please contact me with details.

Each of my Limited Edition Acrylic and Limited Edition Metal prints arrive ready to hang with a recessed back mount that provides a modern and sleek frameless look where the print appears to float off your wall. Optional float frames are also available at an extra cost.

My Archival Fine Art Paper prints arrive rolled and are not ready to hang.

If you prefer a more traditional presentation, my Limited Edition Acrylic and Limited Edition Metal prints are available with an optional float frame in a range of colours. A float frame gives your art the illusion of floating inside a traditional picture frame without touching it, which creates an interesting visual detail and sense of three-dimensional depth, while still offering the conventional look of a frame.

I do not provide a framing option for my open edition Archival Fine Art Paper prints. If you intend to frame your print, I recommend using an experienced local framing professional and I would be happy to work with you and your framer to facilitate this process.

Your Limited Edition Acrylic and Limited Edition Metal prints will be shipped ready to hang with the appropriate mounting hardware already attached to the back. You will need to countersink 2 screws with large heads into your wall, which are not included with your purchase. The screw heads should sit about ½ inch out of the wall and the recessed frame will then rest on these screws. The recessed frame will hang flush with your wall and provide a modern and sleek frameless look where your print appears to float off of it.

Depending on the surface of your wall, you may require additional hardware such as wall anchors. Of course, I always recommend that hanging be carried out by an experienced professional to protect your home and your art investment.

When not restricted by furniture, artwork should ideally be hung with its centre at eye level, which on average is about 57 inches above the floor. To hang your artwork at this optimal height, you will need to compensate for the distance from its centre to its mounting hardware. To do this, simply measure the distance in inches from the top of your artwork to the mounting holes in your recessed frame, then subtract this number from half the height of your artwork. Add the result to the optimal height of 57 inches, and you have the distance from your floor at which your screws should be placed.

Calculating the placement of screws above furniture is very similar. To hang your piece 6 to 8 inches above your furniture, simply measure the distance in inches from the bottom of your artwork to the mounting holes in its recessed frame, then add the 6 to 8 inches, and you have the distance from your furniture at which your screws should be placed.

Of course, it is important to hang your work securely and installation is always best left to an experienced professional.

Only 40 of my Limited Edition Acrylic and Limited Edition Metal prints of each photograph will ever be produced. Unfortunately, this means that any sold out images will never be printed in acrylic or metal again.

If you are interested, you are welcome to order an Archival Fine Art Paper print of this image as they are open edition so continue to be available even when the limited editions are sold out. As I am always photographing new work, please join my Collectors List so you don’t miss out on any new releases.

Absolutely! I accept a limited number of commissions each year and would be delighted to hear about the place that brings you joy. Please contact me to discuss.

Your Limited Edition Acrylic print has a smooth, glassy surface that will look flawless for years to come if you avoid contact with its surface. Your print should only need the occasional dusting with compressed air or a soft sable brush. Although it’s best to avoid liquids, should you need to remove any dirt or streaks, use a very small amount of watered-down mild dish soap or a mild acrylic cleaner (such as Novus #1) and wipe gently with a clean, soft cloth. Follow up with a clean, damp cloth and dry by blotting with a soft, dry cloth. Never use paper towels or any products that contain ammonia or alcohol (such as Windex) as they will damage the acrylic. Although measures have been taken to provide UV protection, it is always best to avoid displaying your artwork in direct sunlight, high humidity (over 60%), or high temperatures (over 25°C).

Your Limited Edition Metal print is made of ChromaLuxe HD aluminum, which has an ultra-hard scratch-resistant surface that is largely waterproof and weatherproof.  Your print should only need the occasional dusting with a microfibre cloth or chamois. It is best to avoid contact with the surface of your print as fingerprints and smudges will appear if touched. To remove any dirt or streaks, use a watered-down glass cleaner (such as Windex) and wipe gently with a clean, soft cloth. Your metal print is extremely durable with the longest fade resistance in the market, but it is always best to avoid displaying your artwork in direct sunlight.

The best way to keep your Archival Fine Art Paper print in good condition is to frame it. I recommend using an experienced local framing professional and I would be happy to work with you and your framer to facilitate this process.

Lighting your image properly involves a mixture of spotlights and spreads. It is important to consider the longevity of your artwork when planning your lighting solution as direct sunlight, UV radiation from fluorescent bulbs, and heat from incandescent and halogen bulbs placed too close to your artwork could cause fading or damage. In general, you should aim to light your artwork about 3 times brighter than the light of your room at an angle of about 30 degrees to cover the artwork in sufficient light while reducing glare. To ensure that the colours of your artwork are portrayed accurately, seek out lighting with a high CRI value (Color Rendering Index) such as MR16 halogen bulbs that have a CRI of 95-100. It is best to seek the advice of an electrician or lighting professional to ensure the proper balance of light and presentation of your art.
